WKU Honors 22 High School
Scholars

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University Thursday honored 22 high school seniors from five area counties for their academic achievements.

The seniors, who were honored at the annual High School Scholars Luncheon, all qualify for at least a renewable full-tuition scholarship to Western. They included students from Allen County-Scottsville, Butler County, Edmonson County, Franklin-Simpson, Logan County and Russellville high schools.

As a group, the seniors have an average grade-point average of 3.965 and an average ACT score of 28.8. The group includes 18 Governor's Scholars and three National Merit Semifinalists.

Students honored included:

From Allen-County Scottsville: Emma Arterburn, Elizabeth Fleming, Stephen Kiene, Joshua Rock, Jennifer Wallin and Megan Wheat.

From Butler County: Alecia Mejer.

From Edmonson County: Todd Webb and Sarah Vessels.

From Franklin-Simpson: Stephanie Burnley, Kristina Landino, Jacob Johnston and Ashley Parsly.

From Logan County: Joshua Bailey, Stephen Eidson, Maranda Hall, Emily Nichols, Brian Rogers, Amy Scarbrough, Joshua Smith and Rebekah Sowell.

From Russellville: Neal Patel.

The luncheons continue Jan. 20 for students from Bowling Green and Warren County high schools and Jan. 29 for students in the Owensboro area.
