WKU Forensic Team Competes
In San Diego, Murray Events

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University forensic team members traveled to San Diego and Murray to take part in three tournaments on the weekend of Feb. 6-8.

In San Diego, WKU's William E. Bivin Forensic Society placed first in team sweepstakes ahead of California State University at Long Beach in the Point Loma Nazarene University Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament.

At Murray, WKU team members received numerous individual awards in the Murray State/Hopkinsville Community College Swing.

Individual results from the San Diego tournament are as follows:

Armando Martinez, a freshman from Glendale, Ariz., fourth in individual sweepstakes, second in after-dinner speaking, second in duo interpretation (with Jacob Peregoy), fourth in programmed oral interpretation.

Adam Henze, a junior from Evansville, Ind., fifth in individual sweepstakes, second in poetry interpretation, fourth in duo interpretation (with Tony Damico), fourth in prose interpretation, semifinalist in dramatic interpretation.

Jacob Peregoy, a junior from Evansville, Ind., tournament champion in duo interpretation (with Stacy Bernaugh), second in duo interpretation (with Armando Martinez).

Chris Brasfield, a sophomore from Spring Hill, Tenn., tournament champion in poetry interpretation, sixth in programmed oral interpretation.

Lydia Nelson, a freshman from Carver, Mass., tournament champion in prose interpretation, sixth in persuasive speaking.

Evelio Silvera, a senior from Fort Myers, Fla., second in communication analysis, fourth in parliamentary debate speaker awards, semifinalist in poetry interpretation.

Corey Alderdice, a Water Valley junior, third in communication analysis, sixth in poetry interpretation, semifinalist in persuasive speaking.

Nicole Hawk, an Upton sophomore, fourth in impromptu speaking, fifth in extemporaneous speaking.

Stacy Bernaugh, a senior from Seaside, Calif., tournament champion in duo interpretation (with Jacob Peregoy), semifinalist in extemporaneous speaking.

Tony Damico, a Phoenix senior, fourth in duo interpretation (with Adam Henze), semifinalist in prose interpretation.

Joelle Perry, a Florence freshman, fifth in communication analysis, semifinalist in impromptu speaking and informative speaking.

Jenny Corum, an Auburn junior, third in informative speaking.

Chris Hagins, a senior from Summerfield, Fla., fifth in impromptu speaking.

Caleb Williams, a junior from Lewisville, Texas, fifth in after-dinner speaking.

Ashley Courtney, a Mayfield sophomore, semifinalist in informative speaking and poetry interpretation.

Eric Rogers, a Cave City senior, semifinalist in extemporaneous speaking.

Individual results from the Murray State/Hopkinsville Community College Swing are as follows:

Rebecca Simms, a Lebanon junior, tournament champion in persuasive speaking, second in programmed oral interpretation and third in prose interpretation in the Murray portion; tournament champion in prose interpretation in the HCC portion.

Ashley Mack, a freshman from Mesa, Ariz., tournament champion in communication analysis, third in informative speaking in the Murray portion; second in communication analysis in the HCC portion.

Grace Bruenderman, a Lexington sophomore, tournament champion in impromptu speaking, fourth in poetry interpretation in the Murray portion; second in individual sweepstakes, tournament champion in impromptu speaking, fourth in poetry interpretation in the HCC portion.

Alex Rogers, a junior from Leawood, Kan., second in informative speaking, second in persuasive speaking in the Murray portion; fourth in informative speaking in the HCC portion.

Lindsey Nave, a senior from Harrisburg, Ill., second in prose interpretation, fourth in after-dinner speaking in the Murray portion; second in poetry interpretation, fourth in after-dinner speaking in the HCC portion.

Ryan Howell, a sophomore from Plymouth, Ind., fourth in persuasive speaking, fifth in programmed oral interpretation in the Murray portion; second in after-dinner speaking, fifth in programmed oral interpretation in the HCC portion.

Emily Gibson, a Hodgenville freshman, fourth in informative speaking in the Murray portion.

Elizabeth Au, a junior from Evansville, Ind., fifth in duo interpretation (with Margaret Au) in the Murray portion; sixth in dramatic interpretation, sixth in duo interpretation (with Margaret Au) in the HCC portion.

Margaret Au, a senior from Evansville, Ind., fifth in duo interpretation (with Elizabeth Au) in the Murray portion; fourth in prose interpretation, sixth in duo interpretation (with Elizabeth Au) in the HCC portion.

Nicole Estenfelder, a Florence junior, fifth in poetry interpretation in the Murray portion; tournament champion in poetry interpretation in the HCC portion.

Kate Hertweck, a junior from Evansville, Ind., sixth in extemporaneous speaking in the Murray portion; tournament champion in extemporaneous speaking in the HCC portion.

Melissa Messer, a San Antonio freshman, sixth in poetry interpretation in the Murray portion.

Courtney Wright, a sophomore from Evansville, Ind., tournament champion in informative speaking in the HCC portion.
