Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University and several sponsors will honor students from area high schools for their academic achievements.

Next month's annual High School Scholars Luncheons honor students who qualify for at least a renewable full-tuition scholarship to Western.

Here's the schedule for the luncheons, which begin at 11:30 a.m.:

Jan. 6: Glasgow Area Scholars Luncheon, sponsored by South Central Bank, at the Lera B. Mitchell Clubhouse in Glasgow for students from Barren County, Caverna, Glasgow, Metcalfe County and Monroe County high schools.

Jan. 11: Bowling Green/Warren County Scholars Luncheon, sponsored by National City, at Carroll B. Knicely Institute for Economic Development (WKU South Campus) for students from Bowling Green, Greenwood, Warren Central and Warren East high schools.

Jan. 13: South Central Kentucky Scholars Luncheon, sponsored by Independence Bank, at Carroll B. Knicely Institute for Economic Development (WKU South Campus) for students from Allen County-Scottsville, Franklin-Simpson, Logan County, Russellville, Butler County and Edmonson County high schools.

Jan. 19: Owensboro Area Scholars Luncheon at Executive Inn Rivermont in Owensboro for students from Owensboro, Apollo, Daviess County, Owensboro Catholic, Whitesville Trinity, Hancock County, Ohio County, McLean County, Henderson County, Muhlenberg North and Muhlenberg South high schools.
