WKU Libraries Add E-Journal August 11, 2004 While other state libraries have different types of e-journal management systems, WKU Libraries is the first to have TDNet, a powerful electronic journal management system with 4 features: the A-Z list of journal titles to which we have access and links to the databases where they are found, to publisher web sites, and a link to TOPCAT, Western's online catalog which shows print and electronic titles and their availability; a feature that allows searching table of contents for full-text articles; a linking capability from database to full-text articles; and an alerting service so individuals or classes can track subject or journal specific contents weekly. This new e-journal management system will be operational on Aug. 10 and can be accessed by anyone with a WKU e-mail account. It is easily accessible for users by simply clicking on any "e-journals" link on the Libraries' Website. Dean of Libraries Mike Binder said, "I'm excited about the power of this new service for making so readily accessible the thousands of electronic journals found in the 80 databases WKU Libraries provides to the campus community, including those from the Kentucky Virtual Library. "In addition," Binder continued, "I look forward to individual students, faculty and staff at Western taking advantage of its personalization feature, "MyTDNet," which can be tailored to meet their needs to keep up with the literature in selected subjects and disciplines."
