Students In WKU's Gordon Ford
College Of Business Win Award

April 23, 2004

Bowling Green, Ky. - Students from Western Kentucky University's Gordon Ford College of Business were honored last week in the 40th Annual International Collegiate Business Strategy Competition.

WKU's undergraduate team received the award for best annual report and business plan.

Undergraduate and graduate teams competed with student teams from international and U.S. universities. Each team, acting as top business executives, ran a simulated company by planning strategy, setting budgets, hiring and training salespeople, deciding production schedules, and marketing their product.

For 10 weeks, teams competed in the "remote" phase, submitting decisions over the Internet. On April 15, teams began the three-day "intensive" phase in San Diego where they met their competition, submitted an annual report, made multiple decisions and reported to a Board of Directors composed of people from such companies as Intel and Cisco.

Members of the undergraduate team (Chronosystems Inc.) were Adam Smith of Grabill, Ind., Kortney Wonderlich of Shelbyville, Sarah Jones of Lafayette, Tenn., and Jacob Hamlin of Stearns. Members of the graduate team (Micro Magic, Inc.) were Ed Staton of Elizabethtown, Mary Beth England of Munfordville, and Aaron French and Yu-Shu Tsai, both of Bowling Green.
