WKU Alumni, Students Win
Associated Press Awards

Bowling Green, Ky. - Several Western Kentucky University students and alumni received awards Tuesday in the statewide Associated Press broadcasting competition.

WKU results from the student radio competition are as follows:

Mark Brown, a Scottsville senior, first in newscast, first in best reporter, second in news report.

Katie Bridge, a Georgetown senior, second in newscast.

Matt Horstman, a Muhlenberg County senior, honorable mention in newscast, honorable mention in news report.

Lisa Newton, a senior from Tell City, Ind., honorable mention in feature/human interest.

Rosie Kapp, a Cincinnati junior, honorable mention in feature/human interest

Chris Idle, a Louisville junior, second in sports.

Jennifer Cissell, a Loretto senior, second in sports.

WKU results from the student television competition are as follows:

Western Kentucky University's NewsChannel 12, best newscast.

Kyle Edelen, a Louisville senior, first in sports.

Laura Rogers, a Canmer junior, first in features, first in news reporter.

Megan Jones, a Richmond senior, honorable mention in feature.

Lori Mitchell, a Scottsville senior, honorable mention in feature, honorable mention in news reporter.

Delaina Givens, a Georgetown senior, first in news report, honorable mention in news reporter.

WKU alumni who received awards in the Associated Press broadcasting contests include the following:

Bruce Carter ('78), news director of WLEX, first in best TV newscast

Kristi Runyon ('98), WTVQ, first in TV public service

Leigh Searcy ('91), WLEX, honorable mention in TV spot news.

Randall Parmley ('01), WBKO, first in TV sports special, second in sports photography.

Mindy Peterson ('94), WHAS, second in radio feature/human interest

Aimee Reed ('01), WHAS, honorable mention in radio feature/human interest.

Julie Goodwin ('01), WFPL, honorable mention in radio public service.

Dave Shinall ('03), WKMS, first in radio public service, honorable mention in radio feature/human interest.

Terry Likes ('88), WKYU, first in radio series/documentary.
