WKU Hosting Annual Journalism September 16, 2003 More than 300 students and their advisers from 12 Kentucky schools -- Barren County, Grayson County, Elizabethtown, Waggener, Male, Hopkinsville, Pulaski County, Bowling Green, Daviess County, McLean County, Trinity and Greenwood and Taylor County-- will attend the half-day conference at Mass Media and Technology Hall. Journalism Scholars Day encourages excellence in high school journalism and provides students with the opportunity to increase their knowledge and skills through sessions taught by Western faculty and students. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with a keynote speech by Scott Couch of WTVF-TV in Nashville, Tenn., at 9:15 a.m. More than 20 breakout sessions will follow. Journalism Scholars Day, a tradition that dates to the 1970s, is co-sponsored by the School of Journalism and Broadcasting, the Kentucky High School Media Partnership, Western's Chapter of Society of Professional Journalists and the Kentucky High School Journalism Association.
