Finalist For National Pacemaker

Bowling Green, Ky. - The College Heights Herald, Western Kentucky University's student newspaper, is a finalist for a national Pacemaker award.

The Herald has won nine national Pacemakers -- 1981, 1982, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2002.

Editors for the fall 2002 and spring 2003 semesters were Caroline Lynch and Erica Walsh. The Herald competes against other non-daily student newspapers.

The Pacemaker awards, co-sponsored by the Associated Collegiate Press and the Newspaper Association of America Foundation, are considered to be the Pulitzer Prize of college journalism. Awards will be presented during the National College Media Convention Nov. 5-9 in Dallas.
