Receives Research Award

Bowling Green, Ky. - Dr. Sally Hastings, an associate professor of communication at Western Kentucky University, is the recipient of the 2003 Stanley L. Saxton Applied Research Award.
Dr. Hastings will receive the award at the National Communication Association convention Nov. 19-23 in Miami.
Sponsored by Carl Couch Center for Social and Internet Research, the award is presented to a paper focusing on how theory, research and/or practice contribute to addressing real, pragmatic and social problems.
The topic of Dr. Hastings' paper was "Autoethnography and Intersubjectivity: Intercultural Contact Between Bereaved Parents and 'Civilians'."
Dr. Hastings teaches courses in intercultural and interracial communication, interpersonal communication and ethnographic communication.
