WKU School Of Journalism And
Broadcasting Visiting Media

October 08, 2003

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University's nationally recognized School of Journalism and Broadcasting is launching a Media Mentoring program to benefit WKU students and area media outlets.

Dr. Pam Johnson, director of the school, along with students and program coordinators (broadcasting, print journalism, advertising, photojournalism and public relations) will visit media outlets on Fridays to meet with general managers, publishers and others.

The broadcasting sequence will make the tour's first stop Friday in Nashville, Tenn., at four Clear Channel Communication radio stations (WSIX, 105.9, The Rock, 107.5, The River, and 101.1 Urban Hip-Hop) and television station WTVF, Channel 5.

The Media Mentoring program will provide students with professional mentors and with opportunities for jobs and internships, Dr. Johnson said. Another goal is to encourage media professionals to visit Western during the summer for media convergence training, she said.
