WKU Forensic Team Competes October 13, 2003 Western's William E. Bivin Forensic Society placed second in overall individual events sweepstakes behind Bradley University. At the first tournament WKU placed second behind Bradley and on the second day WKU placed third behind Illinois State and Bradley. This weekend, team members will travel to Muncie, Ind., for the Ball State University Invitational and to Omaha, Neb., for the Creighton/Concordia Swing. The following students placed in the final rounds of the Illinois Swing: Evelio Silvera, a senior from Fort Myers, Fla., second in individual sweepstakes, informative speaking champion, second in after-dinner speaking, sixth in persuasive speaking in Illinois State tournament; third in individual sweepstakes, third in extemporaneous speaking, fourth in informative speaking, fifth in after-dinner speaking in Northcentral College tournament. Chris Brasfield, a sophomore from Spring Hill, Tenn., second in dramatic interpretation, fourth in poetry interpretation, fifth in communication analysis, fifth in duo interpretation (with Ashley Courtney), fifth in programmed oral interpretation, sixth in prose interpretation in Illinois State tournament; sixth in communication analysis in Northcentral College tournament. Tony Damico, a Phoenix senior, third in duo interpretation (with Adam Henze), fourth in prose interpretation, sixth in programmed oral interpretation in Illinois State tournament; fourth in duo interpretation (with Henze), fourth in programmed oral interpretation in Northcentral College tournament. Jennifer Purcell, a junior from Lewisville, Texas, impromptu speaking champion, third in extemporaneous speaking in Illinois State tournament.
