WKU Plans Events For Native
American Heritage Month

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University's American Indian/First Nation Studies Association, in conjunction with the Office of Diversity and the Anthropology Program, is sponsoring six events for Kentucky Native American Heritage Month.
The schedule is as follows:
Nov. 3: Opening ceremony, 1:30 p.m. at Downing University Center, room 310.
Nov. 3: "Current State and Status of Genders in Indigenous Communities" by Dr. Wesley Thomas of Indiana University, 2 p.m. at Downing University Center, room 310.
Nov. 11: "Archaeology of Kentucky," followed by artifact identification of
legally obtained items, by Dr. Darlene Applegate of WKU's Anthropology Program, 7 p.m. at Rock House, room 102.
Nov. 13: "Introduction to Powwows and Powwow Culture" by Erik D. Gooding of WKU's Anthropology Program, 4 p.m. at Rock House, room 102.
Nov. 18: "Native Pride Dancer" by Larry Yazzie (Meskwaki), 7:30 p.m. at Gordon Wilson Hall, room 200.
Nov. 24: "From the Purple Wartyback to the Swallow Tail Twin: Archaeology in the Green River Valley" by Dr. George Crothers, director of W.S. Webb Museum of Anthropology and the Office of State Archaeology, 4 p.m. (site to be determined).
