Full Power To WKU Buildings
To Return Nov. 22
November 13, 2003
Bowling Green, Ky. - Seven Western Kentucky University buildings will remain with limited power capability at least until the weekend of Nov. 22 when a damaged electrical cable can be replaced.
Electricity to Cherry, Gordon Wilson, Van Meter and Potter halls, Garrett Conference Center, Helm Library and the Faculty House went out about 1:20 a.m. Tuesday when an underground line failed. Limited power was restored to the buildings that afternoon.
Crews with contractor D&M Electric will remove the damaged section of cable on Sunday and replace it with new cable on Saturday, Nov. 22. Doug Ault, director of Facilities Management at Western, said this schedule will allow several events this weekend, including the Kentucky Theatre Association State Conference, to continue as scheduled.
Occupants of the affected buildings are being asked to conserve electricity as much as possible. The cafeteria in the Garrett Conference Center remains open but is operating with a modified menu. Classes will continue as scheduled.
