Electrical Failure Cancels
Some WKU Classes
November 11, 2003
Bowling Green, Ky. - A power failure has left several Western Kentucky University buildings without electricity and caused the cancellation of some classes.
Electricity to Cherry Hall, Van Meter Hall, Potter Hall, Garrett Conference Center, Helm Library and Science and Technology Hall went out about 1:20 a.m. Crews from Western's Department of Facilities Management, Bowling Green Municipal Utilities and D & M Electric have been working to isolate and fix the problem.
Steve Barz, assistant Facilities Management Director, said that until the problem is isolated, it would be difficult to estimate when power will be restored to those buildings.
Day classes in Cherry and Gordon Wilson halls have been canceled, according to Potter College Dean David Lee. A decision on night classes will be made by 1 p.m., he said.
Updates on the situation and class cancellation information will be available from the WKU Website at www.wku.edu or by calling the WKU Information Line at 1-888-CALL-WKU or (270) 745-4845.
