WKU Geoscientists Present
Research At National Meeting

Bowling Green, Ky. - Faculty and students representing Western Kentucky University's geology and chemistry programs are presenting research this week at the 115th annual meeting of the Geological Society of America in Seattle.
"Research presented at national conferences by Western faculty and students is an important indicator of how successful our programs have become," said David Keeling, Geography and Geology department head. "Our undergraduates especially continue to demonstrate the capability to conduct exciting research in a variety of diverse environments."
Presentations by WKU faculty and students at the Nov. 2-6 meeting include:
Dr. Cathleen Webb, chemistry department head, with co-authors from South
Dakota School of Mines and Technology: "An Investigation of the Formation of
Arsenic-containing Minerals on a Limestone Base."
Student Jessica Campbell and Dr. Andrew Wulff: "Evaluation of Formational
Conditions for a LI-rich Pegmatitic Mica."
Dr. Michael May and Dr. Kenneth Kuehn: "Earth System Science, Mammoth Cave National Park, and the Proposed Kentucky Trimodal Transpark."
Student Mollie Laird and Dr. Andrew Wulff: "Geochemistry and Petrogenesis of Lavas from the Casitas Shield, Volcan Cerro Azul, Southern Volcanic Zone, Chile."
