WKU Public Radio Announces March 26, 2003 The contest offers students in grades seven though 12 a chance to participate in an interdisciplinary project integrating classical music and creative writing. All middle and high school students in the listening area are invited to enter by writing a poem inspired by one of two pieces of classical music. The annual event is held in April, which is Classical Music Month. Winning poems will be broadcast on Western's Public Radio and published in the monthly program guide Choice. First and second place winners will be chosen in two grade categories and will receive $200 or $100 respectively in savings bonds. This is the seventh year of the contest and is underwritten again this year by the Law Firm of Harned, Bachert and Denton of Bowling Green. Winners will be announced May 19. Students interested in entering the contest can call 1-800-599-WKYU to request a copy of the official rules and music selections.
