WKU Mock Trial Team Advances
To National Tournament

Bowling Green, Ky. - In only its second year of competition, Western Kentucky University's Mock Trial team has advanced to the American Mock Trial Association's national tournament.

The tournament will be held March 21-23 in St. Paul, Minn.

Team captains are Kristie Alfred, a Louisville senior, and Adam Hogan, a Princeton senior. Other team members are Alaina Green, a Livermore senior; Gregory McFall, a Louisville junior; Ashley Perry, a Williamstown junior; Jessica Weber, a Louisville junior; and Kimberly Pedigo, a senior from Hendersonville, Tenn.

The WKU Mock Trial team advanced to the nationals with a fourth-place finish in the regional competition Feb. 28-March 1 in Birmingham, Ala. Alfred was named All-Regional Outstanding Attorney.

Earlier this season, the team placed second at the Miami University Invitational Tournament and tied for first at the Eastern Kentucky University Invitational Tournament. Alfred won outstanding attorney awards at Miami, EKU and Middle Tennessee State competitions. Hogan won an outstanding attorney award at the MTSU tournament.

Bowling Green attorneys Matt and Melanie Cook and Ryan Reed are coaches. Martha Adams, visiting assistant professor of political science, is the team's educator-coach.
