Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University's chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists honored high school students in the 2003 Mark of Excellence Newspaper and Broadcasting Contest and Awards Showcase of Excellence.
Faculty and students in WKU's School of Journalism and Broadcasting judged about 150 entries from 21 Kentucky high schools.
Broadcasting awards were presented March 7 to the following:
Best Newscast: Casey Kaufman, WJAG, Mercy Academy, first; WGRL Morning Announcements, Grayson County, second.
Best Videography: Cody Brown, Elizabethtown, first; "I've Gotta Make It," WGRL, Grayson County, second; "Stone Cold Crazy," WGRL, Grayson County, third.
Music Video: "I'm Moving On," Andrew Stinson, WGRL, Grayson County, first; Pharris Garcia, Elizabethtown, second.
News Package: Bryan Roberts, Elizabethtown, first; Espanol News, WGRL, Grayson County, second; Making Change Count, WGRL, Grayson County, third; Vo Tech Highlights and Science News, WGRL, honorable mention.
