WKU Student Honored In Hearst Broadcasting Competition

Bowling Green, Ky. - Rebecca Leigh DeSensi, a Western Kentucky University senior from Louisville, finished 10th in the radio news competition of the 43rd annual Hearst Journalism Awards Program.
DeSensi and WKU's School of Journalism and Broadcasting received matching $500 awards.
Western finished eighth in the Intercollegiate Broadcast News Competition behind Syracuse, North Carolina, Penn State, Northwestern, Montana, Arizona State and Florida.
The Hearst Journalism Awards Program consists of writing, photojournalism and broadcast news competitions. In the past three years, Western has won the overall intercollegiate title twice and finished second once. Final winners will be named in April.
