Field Exercise Planned
Friday Morning For Army Unit

Bowling Green, Ky. - The 7th Battalion (Personnel Service), a unit in the 4th Brigade, 108th Division (Institutional), located in Decatur, Ga., will use Western Kentucky University's South Campus to conduct a field training exercise.

The battalion is currently conducting its' annual training at Western. That consists of various Administrative and Finance Military Occupation Specialties (MOS). As part of the requirements for the graduating classes of the Personnel Administrative NCO courses (75H30 Phase III and 75H40 Phase III) a Field Training Exercise (FTX) must be successfully completed.

At 3 a.m. June 27, nine soldiers and approximately 12 staff members will take part in the exercise. The soldiers will be transported to the South Campus where they will be required to perform 13 Common Leader Combat Skills Tasks (CLCS).

This training will require the soldiers to utilized dummy weapons (no live ammunition) to complete portions of their tasks simulating return fire. Soldiers will be required to react to sounds (simulating weapons firing and nuclear blast). These sounds will be loud enough for the soldiers to hear, but will not interfere with civilians in the surrounding areas.

The exercise will end by 5 a.m. and soldiers will return to the WKU main campus.
