WKU Farm To Host Agricultural June 30, 2003 These and dozens of other questions will be on display and answered July 24 at the South Central Kentucky Agricultural Field Day sponsored by Western Kentucky University's Department of Agriculture. Assisting WKU with the field day will be the Kentucky Department of Agriculture, the University The field day will feature a series of tours involving forage, grain, beef cattle, weed control, dairy cattle, horticulture, horse handling, 4-H activities and consumer hints. More than 170 varieties of corn, 80 varieties of soybeans, nine varieties of alfalfa, eight varieties of sudan grass and several acres of novel endophyte fescue will be on display. The USDA, NRCS and FSA will provide farmer education about new government programs. The Kentucky Department of Agriculture will provide a farm safety demonstration, plus agriculture in the classroom, pesticide rinse and return, hay testing and other displays. Registration is at 8 a.m. and tours begin at 9 a.m. at the third barn near the rear of the L.D. Brown Agricultural Exposition Center. Parking is in front of the Expo Center. Tours will be repeated every 15 minutes with the last tour starting at 11:45 a.m. Lunch will be available. For information, contact the Agriculture Department at (270) 745-3151.
