WKU Honors Area January 23, 2003 Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University on Wednesday honored 100 high school seniors from Daviess and surrounding counties for their high academic achievement.Students from Apollo, Daviess County, Hancock County, Henderson County, McLean County, Muhlenberg North, Muhlenberg South, Ohio County, Owensboro Catholic, Owensboro Senior and Whitesville Trinity high schools were honored during the annual High School Scholars Luncheon at the Owensboro Executive Inn. All of the students qualify for at least a renewable full-tuition scholarship to WKU. The group included 44 Governor's Scholars, nine National Merit Semifinalists and had an average grade-point average of 3.89 and an average ACT score of 28.9. The average in Kentucky is less than 21.
