WKU Student Honored In
Hearst Journalism Competition

Bowling Green, Ky. - Brian Moore, a Western Kentucky University senior from Louisville, placed 19th in the in-depth writing competition of the 43rd annual Hearst Journalism Awards Program.

After three of six writing contests, Western's School of Journalism and Broadcasting is in sixth place behind Northwestern, Penn State, North Carolina, Iowa and Kentucky.

The Hearst Journalism Awards Program consists of writing, photojournalism and broadcast news competitions. After one of three photojournalism contests, Western is in second place behind San Jose State. After one of two broadcasting contests, Western is in fifth place behind Syracuse, North Carolina, Penn State and Arizona State.

In the past three years, Western has won the overall intercollegiate title twice and finished second once. Final winners will be announced in April.
