WKU Forensics Team Takes
First Place At Four Tournaments

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University forensic team members took first place at four tournaments on Feb. 8-9.
Twelve members of WKU's William E. Bivin Forensic Society placed first in individual events sweepstakes in both tournaments at the Oklahoma/West Texas A&M Swing, while 10 team members took first in individual events sweepstakes in both tournaments at the Wisconsin-Eau Claire/Ripon Swing.
Next up for members of the WKU team are the Kentucky Forensic Association State Tournament in Williamsburg and the Simmons/Suffolk Swing in Boston, Mass., on the weekend of Feb. 15.
Results from the Oklahoma/West Texas A&M Swing in Norman, Okla., are as follows:
Evelio Silvera, a junior from Fort Myers, Fla., tied for first in individual sweepstakes (with Jen Taylor), second in duo interpretation (with Taylor), second in extemporaneous speaking, second in impromptu speaking in Oklahoma tourney; impromptu speaking champion, third in duo interpretation (with Taylor) in West Texas A&M tourney.
Jen Taylor, a junior from Harrisburg, Ill., tied for first in individual sweepstakes (with Evelio Silvera), second in after-dinner speaking, second in dramatic interpretation, second in duo interpretation (with Silvera) in Oklahoma tourney; third in duo interpretation (with Silvera), sixth in prose interpretation in West Texas A&M tourney.
Caleb Williams, a sophomore from Lewisville, Texas, after-dinner speaking champion, persuasive speaking champion, third in individual sweepstakes, fifth in communication analysis in Oklahoma tourney; first in individual sweepstakes, informative speaking champion, second in after-dinner speaking, second in communication analysis, third in impromptu speaking in West Texas A&M tourney.
David Burns, a sophomore from Dayton, Ohio, third in duo interpretation (with Stacy Bernaugh), fifth in poetry interpretation, sixth in dramatic interpretation, sixth in duo interpretation (with Drew Allen) in Oklahoma tourney; second in duo interpretation (with Bernaugh), sixth in duo interpretation (with Allen) in West Texas A&M tourney.
Nick Romerhausen, a freshman from Evansville, Ind., third in after-dinner speaking, fourth in persuasive speaking, sixth in extemporaneous speaking, sixth in informative speaking in Oklahoma tourney; third in persuasive speaking, fifth in communication analysis, seventh in after-dinner speaking in West Texas A&M tourney.
Stacy Bernaugh, a senior from Seaside, Calif., extemporaneous speaking champion, third in duo interpretation (with David Burns), third in impromptu speaking in Oklahoma tourney; extemporaneous speaking champion, second in duo interpretation (with Burns), fifth in impromptu speaking in West Texas A&M tourney.
Tony Damico, a Phoenix junior, second in poetry interpretation, second in informative speaking, fifth in dramatic interpretation in Oklahoma tourney; fourth in programmed oral interpretation in West Texas A&M tourney.
Drew Allen, a junior from Brentwood, Tenn., third in informative speaking, sixth in duo interpretation (with David Burns), sixth in poetry interpretation in Oklahoma tourney; second in individual sweepstakes, second in informative speaking, second in prose interpretation, fourth in after-dinner speaking, fifth in poetry interpretation, sixth in duo interpretation (with Burns) in West Texas A&M tourney.
Adam Henze, a sophomore from Evansville, Ind., fourth in duo interpretation (with Keith Blaser), fourth in poetry interpretation, fourth in programmed oral interpretation in Oklahoma tourney; fourth in poetry interpretation, fourth in prose interpretation, fifth in Duo Interpretation (with Blaser) in West Texas A&M tourney.
Keith Blaser, a senior from Evansville, Ind., fourth in duo interpretation (with Adam Henze), fifth in after-dinner speaking, fifth in prose interpretation in Oklahoma tourney; poetry interpretation champion, fifth in duo interpretation (with Henze), sixth in after-dinner speaking in West Texas A&M tourney.
Rebecca Simms, a Lebanon sophomore, third in persuasive speaking, third in programmed oral interpretation in Oklahoma tourney; persuasive speaking champion, second in programmed oral interpretation, seventh in poetry interpretation in West Texas A&M tourney.
Courtney Smith, a junior from Downers Grove, Ill., fourth in after-dinner speaking in Oklahoma tourney; third in communication analysis, fifth in after-dinner speaking, fifth in informative speaking in West Texas A&M tourney.
