Roberts Among Most Influential
People In Gifted Education

Bowling Green, Ky. - Dr. Julia Roberts, the Mahurin Professor of Gifted Studies and the director of The Center for Gifted Studies at Western Kentucky University, has been selected as one of the 50 most influential people in gifted education.

Dr. Roberts is recognized in "Profiles of Influence in Gifted Education: Historical Perspectives and Future Directions" for her 20-plus years of working with gifted children, their educators and parents coupled with her advocacy work on the local, state, national and international levels.

The landmark book celebrates the 50th anniversary of the National Association for Gifted Children, an advocacy organization that addresses the unique needs of the gifted child.

The book profiles individuals who have "made a difference in the education and understanding of gifted children and/or related areas and exhibit(ed) the ability to initiate, contribute to, and implement change in the field over time at a national and/or international levels through original contributions."

Also profiled is Dr. June Maker, a Western graduate and professor at the University of Arizona.
