Honored At State Meeting

Bowling Green, Ky. - Several efforts by the Institutional Advancement Division at Western Kentucky University received awards from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education in Kentucky (CASE-K).
The awards were presented at the CASE-K annual meeting in Lexington Dec. 11-12.
"I am very proud of the statewide recognition that our division has received," said Tom Hiles, vice president for Institutional Advancement at Western. "It is reflective of our very talented and dedicated staff. We also benefit from a president who understands the important role of institutional advancement. We consider President Gary Ransdell an important part of our team."
The WKU Alumni Association received a grand award in Overall Alumni Relations Programs while the "Investing in the Spirit" campaign received an award of excellence in Total Educational Fundraising Programs.
Western's Cupola Society received a grand award in Fundraising Projects while the Major Gift Campaign received an award of merit.
"The Challenge" from the Center for Gifted Studies received an award of merit in Tabloids/Newsletters while the "Western Scholar" research magazine received an award of merit for Magazines.
In Excellence in Feature Writing, three articles from "Western Scholar" received awards. "Cutthroats! Pirates and Brigands in Late Imperial South China" won an award of excellence while "Up Front Geology" and "Kentucky Prairie" received awards of merit.
In General News Story or Series, three news releases received awards. "Pop Star Athena Cage Honored by WKU"received an award of excellence. "Cave DNA Technique" and "Ground Broken for Science Complex" received awards of merit.
