WKU Offers Viewing Of Close
Encounter With Mars

Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University astronomers are offering a closer look at Earth's close encounter with Mars next week.
On Aug. 27, Mars will pass closer to Earth than it has in nearly 60,000 years (34.6 million miles) and will appear much brighter and larger. WKU astronomers and the Hilltopper Astronomy Club will provide free public viewing opportunities on Aug. 26, 27 and 28 at the Thompson Complex rooftop observatory.
Those interested should meet at 9:30 p.m. in the lobby of Thompson Complex, Central Wing. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
