Bowling Green, Ky. - Peter Laufer has joined Western Kentucky University and Internews® Networks in the International Journalism and Media Management Training Program.

Laufer joins the collaboration among Western's Public Broadcasting, Western's School of Journalism and Broadcasting, the Al-Ahram Regional Press Institute, and Internews, an international non-profit organization that supports open media worldwide.

Laufer, who will be the lead trainer for the sessions, is an award-winning journalist and writer. Faculty from WKU's School of Journalism and Broadcasting will compliment Laufer in specific sessions during the Bowling Green training program. He is working with the program partners to select the first set of journalists, who will participate in the inaugural session scheduled to begin in mid-October.

For more information about Laufer, visit the project web site at www.wkyu.org.

This 15-month phase is funded by a $1.3 million grant from the United States Agency for International Development with support from U.S. Sen.Mitch McConnell (R-KY). McConnell recognized the collaborative possibilities of Western and Internews and was instrumental in bringing the partners together and in the continuing support for this program. To date, the program has received $3.3 million from USAID.
