WKU Broadcasting Students, April 29, 2003 Seven students and WKU NewsChannel 12 received awards in the Kentucky Associated Press competition sponsored by the Associated Press Broadcasters' Association. Radio news report: Matt Horstman, a Bowling Green junior, first; Brandon Bratcher, an Owensboro senior, second. Television newscast: WKU NewsChannel 12. Television sportscast: Kyle Edelen, a Louisville senior, first. Television news report: Kelly Sparks, a Thelma senior, first; Brandon Bratcher, second. Television reporter: LaKecia Shockley, a Bowling Green senior, first; Kelly Sparks, second; Haley Pinson, a Herndon senior, honorable mention. Television feature: Kelly Sparks, first; Brandon Bratcher, second; Fawn Leonard, a Mount Washington junior, honorable mention. Four students were honored in the Society of Professional Journalists regional competition. First-place winners advance to national competition.
