WKU's Gordon Ford College Of
Business Presents Awards

Bowling Green, Ky. - The Gordon Ford College of Business at Western Kentucky University held its seventh annual Student and Faculty Recognition Dinner on April 11, at the Knicely Institute for Economic Development.

Faculty and staff receiving recognition for the 2002-03 academic year included: Dr. Ron Milliman, Outstanding Teaching Award; Dr. Jan Colbert, Outstanding Research Award; Dr. Harold Little, Outstanding Public Service Award; Dr. Mel Borland, Outstanding MBA Teacher Award; Dr. Harold Little, Lou Prida Student Service Award; Martina Gibson, Anne and Dan Greenwell Support Staff Award; and Dr. Afzal Rahim, the Vitale Award for Initiative, Innovation and Leadership.

Two awards were given to acknowledge outstanding achievement by Gordon Ford College of Business Alumni.

Lawrence K. Probus was recognized as the 2002-03 Outstanding Alumni for the Ford College. Probus is a 1977 accounting graduate and serves as senior vice president-finance and chief accounting officer for the Brown-Forman Corporation in Louisville.

Diane Olsofka Wallace was recognized as the 2002-03 Outstanding Recent Alumni for the Ford College. Wallace, a 1993 accounting graduate, is employed with Deloitte and Touche in Louisville.

Students receiving presentation awards were as follows: Joshua D. Price, Ramsey "Best Paper" in Economics Award; Sarah B. Rhoton, National City Bank Student Leadership Award; Mark L. Rawlings, the Wall Street Journal Award in Economics; Cassandra Hanssen, the Wall Street Journal Award in Finance; and Amanda Gaudette, the Dean's Student Achievement Award.

The MBA Director recognized Pat Jordan, John Lea and Dean Spainhower for excellence in services rendered on behalf of the MBA program.

The Office of Global Business recognized two students with the Global Entrepreneur Award – undergraduate student Jake Petrovic and graduate student Usmaan Shakil. Chris Guthrie, director of operations at Trace Die Cast, was recognized by the Office of Global Business as the Industry Partner for 2002-03.

The Gordon Ford College of Business recognized the following as outstanding students and graduates for the 2002-03 academic year: Sarah E. Eubank, Outstanding Junior in Accounting; Nick J. Gabbard, Outstanding Junior in Economics; Patricia L. Moore, Outstanding Junior in Finance; Jennifer L. Rakestraw, Outstanding Junior in Computer Information Systems; Don Gilpin, Outstanding Junior in Management, and Leslie A. White, Outstanding Junior in Marketing.

The following students were recognized as Outstanding Seniors by the Ford College: Sarah B. Rhoton, Outstanding Accounting Senior; Mark L. Rawlings, Outstanding Economics Senior; Roger M. Doszak, Outstanding Finance Senior; Jake B. Lyon, III, Outstanding Computer Information Systems Senior; Jonathan H. Caswell, Outstanding Management Senior; and Holly D. Skidmore and Benton G. Smith, Outstanding Marketing Seniors.

May P. Cano was recognized as the Outstanding MBA Student for 2002-03 and the Overall Outstanding Gordon Ford College of Business Graduate Award for 2002-03 was given to Jake B. Lyon III.
