WKU Student Newspaper Finalist
For National Pacemaker

Bowling Green, Ky. - The College Heights Herald, Western Kentucky University's student newspaper, is a finalist for a national Pacemaker award.

In the past two decades, the Herald has won eight national Pacemakers -- 1981, 1982, 1984, 1988, 1992, 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Editors for the fall 2001 and spring 2002 semesters were Ryan Clark and Brian Moore, both Louisville seniors. The Herald competes against other non-daily student newspapers.

The Pacemaker awards, co-sponsored by the Associated Collegiate Press and the Newspaper Association of America Foundation, are considered to be the Pulitzer Prize of college journalism. Awards will be presented during the National College Media Convention Oct. 31-Nov. 3 in Orlando, Fla.
