WKU Co-Sponsoring Conference
On Latin American Issues
Bowling Green, Ky. - Latin American issues will be the focus of a regional conference this weekend in Nashville, Tenn.
Western Kentucky University's Department of Geography and Geology and the Latin American Studies Committee are co-sponsoring the 52nd Annual Meeting of the Midwest Association of Latin American Studies. Other sponsors include Middle Tennessee State University and Tennessee State University.
The conference, which annually attracts 35 to 50 scholars and students, convenes Friday and Saturday at the Ramada Inn in Nashville. More than 30 faculty and student papers will be presented.
On Friday, Williams Parsons, director of WKU's Office of Global Business and Entrepreneurship, will chair a panel discussion on business in Latin America.
On Saturday, Dr. David Keeling, head of WKU's Department of Geography and Geology, will chair a panel discussion on political and economic instability in Latin America.
Others from Western making presentations at the conference include Douglas Fugate, Carlos Orihuella, Diego Jaramillo, Martin Casana and May Cano.
