Education Conference Scheduled
For Nov. 11-12

Bowling Green, Ky. - The ninth annual Conference on Legal Issues in Education is scheduled Monday and Tuesday (Nov. 11-12) at the Sloan Convention Center in Bowling Green.

The theme is "School and the Law: Ventures in Professional Collaboration." The event is sponsored by Western Kentucky University's Department of Educational Administration, Leadership and Research, and the Green River Regional Educational Cooperative, in cooperation with the Warren County Bar Association.

During Monday's luncheon, Western Kentucky University will recognize Kathryn Kennedy Wallace, retired director of the Kentucky Department of Education's Division of Minority Recruitment and Retention. Under her direction, the Administrative Leadership Principal Institute has assisted 60 individuals in obtaining administrative certification. Of that number, 18 are serving in school leadership positions.

Session topics for the two-day conference include: privacy rights and First Amendment issues; legal issues for school administrators, in special education and for teacher discipline; chemical safety; threat assessment; and working with the media. Conference sessions begin at 8:30 a.m. both days.
