WKU Forensics Team Competes
At Indianapolis Triple Crown

Bowling Green, Ky. - Sixteen of the 36 members of Western Kentucky University's speech and debate team competed at the Indianapolis Triple Crown Tournament on Nov.1-3.

The three tournaments were hosted by IUPUI (Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis), the University of Indianapolis and Butler University. At each tournament, WKU's William E. Bivin Forensic Society placed second in overall sweepstakes behind the University of Texas-Austin.

Individual results are as follows:

Chris Brasfield, a Fulton freshman, fourth in dramatic interpretation, fifth in duo interpretation (with Chris Blackford) in IUPUI tournament; fifth in duo interpretation (with Blackford), sixth in dramatic interpretation in Indianapolis tournament; second in dramatic interpretation, fifth in duo interpretation (with Blackford), fifth in informative speaking in Butler tournament.

Chris Blackford, a freshman from Evansville, Ind., fifth in duo interpretation (with Chris Brasfield), fifth in programmed oral interpretation in IUPUI tournament; fifth in duo interpretation (with Brasfield), fifth in novice poetry interpretation in Indianapolis tournament; fifth in duo interpretation (with Brasfield) in Butler tournament.

Lindsay Nave, a junior from Harrisburg, Ill., prose interpretation champion in IUPUI tournament; fourth in dramatic interpretation, fourth in duo interpretation (with Tony Damico) in Indianapolis tournament; third in prose interpretation in Butler tournament.

Tony Damico, a Phoenix junior, second in programmed oral interpretation in IUPUI tournament; fourth in individual sweepstakes, second in after-dinner speaking, fourth in duo interpretation (with Lindsey Nave), six in poetry interpretation in Indianapolis tournament; third in after-dinner speaking, third in poetry interpretation in Butler tournament.

Joel Smith, a Murray sophomore, second in after-dinner speaking in IUPUI tournament; fourth in informative speaking in Butler tournament.

Grace Bruenderman, a Lexington freshman, fourth in poetry interpretation in IUPUI tournament.

Evelio Silvera, a junior from Fort Myers, Fla., fourth in duo interpretation (with Jen Taylor) in IUPUI tournament; third in rhetorical criticism in Butler tournament.

Jen Taylor, a junior from Harrisburg, Ill., fourth in duo interpretation (with Evelio Silvera) in IUPUI tournament; sixth in impromptu speaking in Indianapolis tournament; fifth in poetry interpretation, fifth in prose interpretation in Butler tournament.

Courtney Smith, a junior from Downers Grove, Ill., fourth in informative speaking in IUPUI tournament; prose interpretation champion, fifth in rhetorical criticism in Butler tournament.

Nick Romerhausen, a freshman from Evansville, Ind., fifth in rhetorical criticism in IUPUI tournament; third in persuasive speaking, seventh in rhetorical criticism in Indianapolis tournament.

Adam Henze, a sophomore from Evansville, Ind., prose interpretation champion, third in poetry interpretation in Indianapolis tournament; third in dramatic interpretation in Butler tournament.

Katie Tyree, a junior from Plymouth, Ind., fifth in dramatic interpretation in Indianapolis tournament; fifth in persuasive speaking in Butler tournament.

Ashley Courtney, a Mayfield freshman, third in persuasive speaking in Butler tournament.

Ryan Howell, a freshman from Plymouth, Ind., third in programmed oral interpretation in Butler tournament.
