WKU Honors Top Students
During Commencement
Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University recognized 22 top scholars today at its 151st Commencement.
A record 14 of the 22 received the Ogden Trustees' Award that goes to graduating seniors with perfect 4.0 GPAs and all coursework completed at Western. The college scholars have the highest grade-point average within their undergraduate colleges with at least 64 semester hours earned at Western.
From the Potter College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, the honor graduates are:
*Melissa Davis of Bowling Green, Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. Davis, a corporate and organizational communication major, is the daughter of Rex and Susan Davis.
*Josh James of Lexington, Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. James, a mass communication major, is the son of David and Nancy James.
*Lisa Sutton of Boonville, Ind., Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. Sutton, a theater major, is the daughter of Michael and Marilyn Sutton.
*Phillip Wininger of Bowling Green, Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. Wininger, a government and economics major, is the son of Lanny and Nancy Wininger.
From the Gordon Ford College of Business, the honor graduates are:
*Lindsay Hinton of Bowling Green, Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. Hinton, an accounting major, is the daughter of Larry and Vivian Hinton.
*Heather Riney of Hermitage, Tenn., Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. Riney, an accounting major, is the daughter of James and Becky Riney.
*Kristina Zoglmann of Elizabethtown, Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. Zoglmann, an accounting major, is the daughter of Bob and Debbie Zoglmann.
*Kristin Knott of Owensboro, scholar of the college. Knott, a management major, is the daughter of Michael and Lisa Knott.
From the program of Interdisciplinary Studies, the honor graduate is:
*Kimberly Kirby of Morgantown, scholar of the college. Kirby, a general studies major, is the wife of Cooney Kirby and the daughter of Joseph Irvin Sr. and the late Peggy Irvin.
From the College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, the honor graduates are:
*Amanda Maxwell Adamson of Bowling Green, Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. Adamson, a psychology and sociology major, is the daughter of Marcella and Curry Davis and Larry Adamson.
*April Alexander of Bowling Green, Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. Alexander, a communication disorders major, is the wife of Greg Foster and the daughter of Joy and Andy Alexander.
*Rachel Ezell of Auburn, Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. Ezell, a psychology major, is the daughter of Steve and Betty Ezell.
*Stacy Hoskins of Mt. Sterling, Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. Hoskins, a psychology and sociology major, is the daughter of Paul and Denise Hoskins.
*Lauren Britnell of Athens, Ala., scholar of the college. Britnell, a communication disorders major, is the daughter of Keith and Mary Jo Britnell.
*Holly Lynn Foster of Radcliff, scholar of the college. Foster, an exceptional education major, is the daughter of Rick and Lori Foster.
*Rachel Smith of Grabill, Ind., scholar of the college. Smith, a dietetics major, is the daughter of Larry and Cindy Smith.
From the Ogden College of Science and Engineering, the honor graduates are:
*Wesley Daughtry of Owensboro, Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. Daughtry, a mathematics major, is the son of Anthony and Anita Daughtry.
*Michael Jason Grace of Lawrenceburg, Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. Grace, a computer science and mathematics major, is the son of Mike and Sarah Grace.
*Heather Bryant of Central City, scholar of the college. Bryant, a biology and chemistry major, is the daughter of Eddie and Sherri Bryant.
*Julia Raymer of Owensboro, scholar of the college. Raymer, a chemistry major, is the daughter of Steve and Becky Raymer.
From the School of Health and Human Services, the honor graduates are:
*Amanda Bullington of Nashville, Tenn., Ogden Trustees' Award and scholar of the college. Bullington, a nursing major, is the daughter of Cindy and Ed Bullington.
*Lucy Blake Austin of Nashville, Tenn., scholar of the college. Austin, a nursing major, is the daughter of Ed and Rachel Austin.
The University conferred 143 associate degrees, 1,298 baccalaureate degrees and 212 master's/specialist degrees to May and August graduates for a total of 1,653.
