WKU Student To Compete In Hearst
Broadcasting Finals

Bowling Green, Ky. - A Western Kentucky University broadcasting student will compete in the national finals in the 42nd annual Hearst Journalism Awards Program.

Cory Ramsey, a Fulton junior, is one of five radio finalists who will compete in the 2002 Broadcast News Championships May 31-June 4 in San Francisco. Five television finalists also were selected.

Western's School of Journalism and Broadcasting finished second behind North Carolina in the overall Hearst competition that includes writing, photojournalism and broadcasting.

Western was second in the Intercollegiate Photojournalism Competition, fourth in the Intercollegiate Broadcast News Competition and 10th in the Intercollegiate Writing Competition.
