"At Home" Project At WKU
Extended To May 10
Bowling Green, Ky. - Due to high demand, "At Home: A Kentucky Project" has been extended through May 10, 2002.
"At Home: A Kentucky Project with Judy Chicago and Donald Woodman" is an interdisciplinary project involving artists, writers, researchers, photographers and students from Kentucky. During the Fall 2001 semester at Western Kentucky University, participants transformed a two-story house and the surrounding lawns to intellectually and artistically express the cultural meanings of gender and domestic space. Such themes as aging, motherhood, prejudice, history, abuse and sexuality are explored in the exhibit.
The exhibit, at 522 University Blvd., is open Thursday-Friday 1 p.m.-4 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday 2 p.m.-6 p.m. Guided tours for groups are available by appointment. The exhibit had been scheduled to close March 31.
A related photo documentary, which traces the project from its beginnings through the grand opening in December, is on display at the Women's Studies Center, located at 1532 State St., from 8 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Both exhibits are free and open to the public. Some portions of the house exhibit contain sensitive material. The two areas that parents should consider previewing before taking small children are easily avoided.
