Farm Safety Day Camp 18 At WKU
Agriculture Center
Bowling Green, Ky. - The eighth annual Progressive Farmer Farm Safety Day Camp is scheduled for June 18 at Western Kentucky University's L.D. Brown Agricultural Exposition Center.
The camp, for children ages 6-13, is presented by the Kentucky Partnership for Farm Family Health and Safety, Inc. Activities begin at 9:15 a.m. and end at 3:15 p.m.
"For many children, the farm is a workplace, home and playground," said Glynda Stone, director of the Kentucky Partnership for Farm Family Health and Safety. "The camp teaches children how to prevent injuries and reduce the risk of accidents, both on the farm and in town. Sessions reinforce for the campers the importance of taking responsibility for their own safety, respecting parents' safety rules and sharing safety tips with their own family and friends."
Sessions include animal safety, ATV safety, chemical safety, disability awareness, electrical safety, fire safety, first aid, gun safety, home alone safety and machinery safety.
The day camp is limited to 150 participants. Applications may obtained by calling 745-5872 or 745-3325 or may be picked up at the Warren County Extension Office on Nashville Road.
