WKU Steel Bridge Team Finishes 28th
In National Competition
Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University's Steel Bridge Team finished 28th out of 46 teams in the 11th annual National Student Steel Bridge Competition this weekend in Madison, Wis. WKU has advanced to national competition for three straight years.
The steel bridge competition was one of two major competitions at the American Society of Civil Engineers 150th Anniversary National Student Conference June 21-24 in Madison. Western finished fourth in the National Concrete Canoe Competition.
Adviser Greg Mills said the team finished third in aesthetics, 11th in construction economics, 18th in construction speed, 27th in lightness and stiffness, and 28th in structural efficiency.
Members of the WKU student steel bridge team include: Dan Haney of Munster, Ind.; Danny Bratcher and Josh Miller of Bowling Green; Daniel Kirby of Alvaton; Larry Shelton of Owensboro; Aaron Talbot of Greenbrier, Tenn.
