Second WKU Student Receives
Scholarship From RTNDF
Bowling Green, Ky. - For the second time in three years, Western Kentucky University's School of Journalism and Broadcasting has produced multiple scholarship winners from the Radio Television News Directors Foundation.
Kyle Edelen, a Louisville junior, and Brandon Bratcher, an Owensboro junior, received two of the 17 scholarships RTNDF awards on a national basis. Earlier this week, Bratcher received the Jim Byron Undergraduate Scholarship.
Edelen has received the Lou and Carole Prato Sports Reporting Scholarship, a $1,000 tuition grant to a student planning a career as a sports reporter in television or radio. Lou Prato was treasurer of the Radio Television News Directors Association from 1981 to 2001 and serves as secretary of RTNDF's Board of Trustees.
Western has had nine RTNDF scholarship recipients in the past 10 years. The others are Stephanie Gibney (1993) Tim Ernst (1994), Carrie Jones (1996), Kim Olson (1997), Julie Goodwin (1999), Lisa Hughes and Amy Jones (2000).
