Two Science Educators
To Visit WKU In February
Bowling Green, Ky. - Two nationally known science educators will be visiting Western Kentucky University in February to discuss their latest projects.
Fred Goldberg, director of the Constructing Physics Understanding project at the Center for Research in Science and Mathematics Education at San Diego State University, will speak at 7 p.m. Feb. 5 at Tate Page Hall, room 132.
The CPU Project, supported by the National Science Foundation, has developed a curriculum, materials and computer simulators to help students create, test and refine scientific theories.
Jeffrey Bennett, author of "On the Cosmic Horizon: Ten Great Mysteries for Third Millennium Astronomy," will speak at 8 p.m. Feb. 13 at Van Meter Auditorium. "On the Cosmic Horizon" addresses questions of human existence and provides answers to compelling cosmic questions.
Bennett, a research associate at the Center for Astrophysics and Space Astronomy at the University of Colorado, is the author of college textbooks in astronomy, mathematics and statistics. One of his books is used in astronomy classes at Western.
