WKU Forensic Team Competes
In Nebraska Tournament
Bowling Green, Ky. - Ten members of Western Kentucky University's speech and debate team competed at the Nebraska Swing Tournament on Jan. 4-6 in Lincoln, Neb.
WKU's William E. Bivin Forensic Society took third place in debate sweepstakes and fourth place in individual events sweepstakes at the portion of the tournament hosted by the University of Nebraska-Omaha. The first portion of the swing was hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Individual results are as follows:
Andrew Causey, a sophomore from Franklin, Tenn., third in poetry interpretation and fifth in programmed oral interpretation at Nebraska-Lincoln; fourth in programmed oral interpretation, fifth in poetry interpretation and sixth in after-dinner speaking at Nebraska-Omaha.
David Burns, a Bowling Green freshman, third in prose interpretation at Nebraska-Lincoln; semifinalist in prose interpretation at Nebraska-Omaha.
David Laing, a Louisville senior, semifinalist in Lincoln-Douglas Debate at Nebraska-Lincoln.
David Wilkins, a Bardstown senior, fourth in impromptu speaking and top speaker in Lincoln-Douglas Debate at Nebraska-Lincoln; semifinalist in impromptu speaking at Nebraska-Omaha.
Sarah Sparks, a Morehead senior, quarterfinalist in Lincoln-Douglas Debate at Nebraska-Lincoln.
Kate Hertweck, a freshman from Evansville, Ind., fourth in persuasive speaking at Nebraska-Lincoln; second in persuasive speaking at Nebraska-Omaha.
Caleb Williams, a freshman from Lewisville, Texas, fifth in duo interpretation and sixth in poetry interpretation at Nebraska-Lincoln.
Adam Henze, a freshman from Evansville, Ind., fifth in duo interpretation at Nebraska-Lincoln.
Jennifer Purcell, a freshman from Lewisville, Texas, third in informative speaking at Nebraska-Omaha.
