Bids For WKU Science Complex
Construction Opened
Bowling Green, Ky. - Bids for the construction of the Complex for Engineering and Biological Sciences at Western Kentucky University were opened in Frankfort Thursday and were less than projected.
Five construction bids were submitted. There were: D.W. Wilburn Inc. of Lexington, $14,527,000; Alliance Corp. of Glasgow, $14,831,400; Ray Bell Construction of Brentwood, Tenn., $14,835,000; Scott, Murphy, and Daniel LLC of Bowling Green, $14,855,281; and Hardaway Construction of Henderson, $16,699,000.
Groundbreaking for the complex, which has a total estimated cost of $20 million, will be Aug. 16 at 8:15 a.m. and will include remarks from Gov. Paul Patton. The 70,000-square-foot building is the first phase of a project that will include the renovation of the north and central wings of Thompson Complex, Snell Hall and Science and Technology Hall.
