WKU Geoscience Student Selected
For GIS Conference

Bowling Green, Ky. - A Western Kentucky University graduate student was the only student from Kentucky selected to serve as a student assistant at an international geographic information systems (GIS) conference.

Rhonda Pfaff of London, Ky., was one of 64 student assistants at the 22nd annual ESRI International User Conference in San Diego. ESRI is the world's leading GIS software company.

The conference, held July 8-12, attracted 11,000 GIS professionals from more than 130 countries. Student assistants came from 29 states and seven countries and were selected from more than 300 applicants.

The students worked closely with ESRI staff to help ensure a smooth conference experience for attendees. The students also met with Jack Dangermond, the president and founder of ESRI.
