WKU Team Places Ninth In Regional
Robotics Competition
Bowling Green, Ky. - Western Kentucky University electrical engineering students placed ninth recently in a regional robotics competitions.
About 15 Western students participated in the construction of the robot and 10 traveled to Columbia, S.C., for the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) Southeast Region Hardware Competition.
Students had to design and build a robot that could autonomously play "pong" with another robot. The robot team consisted of electrical engineering technology and electrical engineering students in WKU's Department of Engineering.
The regional competition attracted teams from 28 universities including Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisville and Florida. Western's ninth-place finish was the best of the Kentucky schools competing.
