Kahler Named Admissions Director
At Western Kentucky

Bowling Green, Ky. - Dr. Dean Kahler is the new director of admissions at Western Kentucky University. Dr. Kahler, assistant director of admissions and interim registrar at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, will join the WKU staff April 29.

"Dr. Kahler was selected from a list of outstanding candidates and brings much current understanding of the latest use of technology to continue the enrollment growth that Western has experienced in recent years," said Luther Hughes, associate vice president for Enrollment Management. "In addition, he brings much experience in enhancing student quality and has demonstrated vision needed to continue the steps outlined in the University's Strategic Plan of becoming Kentucky's best comprehensive university and one of the best in the country."

Dr. Kahler received his bachelor's degree in sociology from Winona State University in Winona, Mich., and master's (public administration) and doctoral (educational administration and higher education) degrees from Southern Illinois University. He is a member of several professional organizations.

As admissions director, Dr. Kahler will be responsible for planning the recruitment efforts of 21 Admissions staff members in cooperation with faculty and the admissions process for new and transferring students.
