Parents Weekend 2001 Begins Friday At WKU
Bowling Green, Ky. - More than 1,500 family members of Western
Kentucky University students are expected for Parents Weekend
2001.
The annual event begins Friday evening and concludes Sunday afternoon.
This weekend's activities include the inaugural meeting of the
WKU Parents Association at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Downing University
Center Theater. Membership is open to any parent, grandparent
or guardian of a WKU student. (For membership information, contact
the WKU Alumni Association at (270) 745-4395 or 1-888-WKU-ALUM.)
A highlight of Parents Weekend is the President's Festival on
the Green. The picnic, hosted by WKU President Gary Ransdell
and his family, begins at 11 a.m. Saturday on the lawn of the
Preston Health and Activities Center.
Here's a list of other Parents Weekend activities:
Friday: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, registration at the Downing
University Center, third floor; 7 p.m., women's soccer vs. Alabama
A&M at the WKU Soccer Complex; 9 p.m., coffee house at the
Downing University Center, fourth floor.
Saturday: 8 a.m. to noon, registration at DUC third floor; 9
a.m. to 10 a.m., residence hall receptions; 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.,
mock classroom/student presentation at DUC theater; 1:30 p.m.,
WKU football vs. Southwest Missouri State at Smith Stadium.
Sunday, 2 p.m., women's soccer vs. Samford at WKU Soccer Complex.
