6 WKU Alumni To Be Honored At
50th Annual Herald Breakfast
Bowling Green, Ky. - Six Western Kentucky University alumni will be honored Saturday morning at the 50th annual College Heights Herald homecoming breakfast.
The Herald Award for Outstanding Contributions to Journalism has been awarded
since 1966 when Frances Richards, the first Herald editor and longtime adviser, was recognized. The award is given to Western graduates who have made significant contributions in journalism and related careers. Thirty-six former Herald staff members have been honored previously.
This year's recipients are:
Tom Eblen, managing editor of the Lexington Herald-Leader.
David Frank, assistant to the picture editor of The New York Times.
Robert Pope, managing editor of The State Journal-Register in Springfield, Ill.
Jerry L. Potter, sports writer for USA Today.
Fran Nelson Salyers, editor of Kentucky Teacher.
Tom Yunt, publisher of the Dubuque (Iowa) Herald-Telegraph.
