WKU Alumnus Bacon To Lead Athletic Fund-Raising
Efforts
Bowling Green, Ky. - Claude Bacon has joined the Western
Kentucky University development staff as director of development
for University Athletics.
Bacon, a 1994 WKU graduate, began his new job Monday. He previously
was director of admissions at Lindsey Wilson College in Columbia.
According to Tom Hiles, WKU's vice president for Development
and Alumni Relations, Bacon will be responsible for implementing
development programs for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics
and developing a long-range comprehensive fund-raising plan.
"Claude has excellent leadership skills," Hiles
said. "His work in recruiting students at Lindsey Wilson
will translate well in seeking private support for Western athletics."
WKU Director of Athletics Wood Selig agreed. "With the
prosperity our student-athletes are enjoying in the classroom
and on the fields and courts, Claude will make an immediate impact
on the financial future and athletic success of our 20 intercollegiate
athletic programs and 350 student-athletes," Selig said.
"We are fortunate to attract someone as professional,
talented and skilled as Claude."
