WKU Students Finish Second
In Advertising Contest
Bowling Green, Ky. - A team of Western Kentucky University
students finished second recently in the District 5 portion of
the National Student Advertising Competition.
Top finishers in the district that includes schools in Kentucky,
Ohio and West Virginia were University of Kentucky, WKU, Youngstown
State University and John Carroll University. The competition,
sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, was held April
28 in Louisville.
WKU team members (all seniors) were Marshall Peschell of Lexington;
Brenda Pamperin, Lisa Weckman and Cathy Sparkman, all of Louisville;
and Kris Durbin of Bowling Green. Advisers were Cliff Shaluta
and Cathy Munisteri, both members of the advertising faculty
in Western's School of Journalism and Broadcasting.
In this year's competition, students used a combination of advertising,
sales promotion and public relations to develop an integrated
communications plan to promote a positive image of automaker
DamilerChrysler.
