WKU Students Finish Second
In Advertising Contest

Bowling Green, Ky.
- A team of Western Kentucky University students finished second recently in the District 5 portion of the National Student Advertising Competition.

Top finishers in the district that includes schools in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia were University of Kentucky, WKU, Youngstown State University and John Carroll University. The competition, sponsored by the American Advertising Federation, was held April 28 in Louisville.

WKU team members (all seniors) were Marshall Peschell of Lexington; Brenda Pamperin, Lisa Weckman and Cathy Sparkman, all of Louisville; and Kris Durbin of Bowling Green. Advisers were Cliff Shaluta and Cathy Munisteri, both members of the advertising faculty in Western's School of Journalism and Broadcasting.

In this year's competition, students used a combination of advertising, sales promotion and public relations to develop an integrated communications plan to promote a positive image of automaker DamilerChrysler.
